Update on Siena’s Women’s Sports Team’s

As the weather gets warmer the stakes seem to get higher, at least that’s the case with the Siena Women’s Soccer team. On Apr. 12 at 3 p.m., The Siena Women’s Soccer team advanced to the semifinals in the MAAC championships after defeating Iona in the Quarterfinals, which also secured the program’s 300th win. The Saint’s won 3-0 with goals scored by Annie Bagnall, Katrina Kurtz and Jayanna Monds. Additionally, goalkeeper Brooke Boermeester maintained a clean record for a second time, making one save during the game.

The Siena Women’s Softball team also accomplished great things recently. The Saint’s took on a doubleheader against Saint Peter’s and managed to sweep both games, winning 7-2 and 3-2. In game one, Emma McLaughlin hit an RBI rushing in Isabella Pardo to home plate to score early on in the first inning. Pitcher Allison Speshyock only allowed two runs, meanwhile, Taylor Rhinehart only allowed a single hit and had four strikeouts. In the second game, the Saint’s started out strong with an early three-run lead over Saint Peter’s. Pitcher Maddie McMahon had a solid performance in the circle, only yielding three runs. Isabella Pardo scored for the Saint’s in the bottom of the first and that run put them on the board. Later on, Sabrina Vargas scored after Isabelle DeChiaro hit a double down left field. Following this, Emma McLaughlin came through again hitting a single up the middle which brought in Isabelle DeChiaro for their final run.
