This week on Dancing With The Stars, dancers transformed and enchanted viewers with extravagant dance numbers, props, and costumes, bringing Broadway’s favorite musical, Wicked, to the ballroom stage.
Dancers were challenged this week to try to portray the dynamic duo of Glinda and Elphaba, their story, and all of their journeys along the way through enticing choreography and extraordinary costume design. And from one DWTS/Wickedfan to another, I can confirm they did Glinda and Elphaba proud with those costumes and even music. However, it wasn’t just the costumes and music that made this night special, but the many couples’ performances, which left the audience completely in awe or completely inspired.
Notably, some couples that stood out this week were Mark Ballas and his partner, Whitney Leavitt, as well as Ezra Sosa and his partner, Jordan Chile, who killed the dance floor. Whitney and Mark lit up the ballroom with a quickstep to the famous song “Popular,” with Leavitt really getting into Glinda’s bubbly character, shown by her fun facial expressions and fluid movements throughout their routine. As many fans and viewers noted, this couple was very deserving of their 10s this week. However, another couple rose to the occasion; partners Ezra Sosa and Jordan Chile did a Rumba this week to the song, “For Good.” Their graceful and emotional dance routine about true love between two friends left the audience, as well as judges, speechless.
Nevertheless, other couples struggled with technique this week, leading some performances to fall short of the rest. Unfortunately, although Andy Richter gave it his all and showed great enthusiasm in his performance, judges gave him somewhat low scores, leading him and his partner Emma Slater to be at the bottom of the leaderboard this week.
Despite Richter and Slater being at the bottom of the leaderboard, the combined judges’ scores with fans’ scores showed that they would be sending Scott Hoying and his partner, Rylee Arnold, home as the elimination for this week. This decision shocked viewers and fans; however, Hoying was optimistic about the elimination as well as his experience on the show, stating, “I’m so incredibly grateful for this,” and that, “Everyone from the cast, the crew, the pros were so nice.”
Although we are sad to see Scottie go, fans are excited for this coming week’s episode, themed Halloween Night! Dancers this week will be challenged to give their greatest performances, depicting some of our favorite Halloween ghouls, goblins, music, and scary tales. DWTS is streaming on the following platforms: Hulu, Disney+, YouTube TV, Fubo TV, and Sling TV. New episodes drop every Tuesday at 8:00 PM EST.
