The Good, the Bad, the Ugly and… the Most Surprising Team of the NFL Season So Far?

Eagles Continue Flying

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills are the only undefeated teams left in the NFL, but you have to give it to Philly: they have championship tax. The reigning Super Bowl champs sit atop the NFC as the lone 4-0 squad in the conference and are somehow finding ways to win. The Eagles continued their dominant run against the Chiefs in Week 2, reminding them of their 40-22 beatdown in last year’s Super Bowl. 336 pound lineman Jordan Davis gave them their most signature win of the season thus far, after returning a 61 yard blocked kick that would have kept the Rams undefeated had Joshua Karty put it through the uprights. Philadelphia continues to show their championship effort week in and week out, and continuously show why they are the team to beat with the deepest roster in the NFL.

Music City Needs A Miracle

Tennessee is showing why they had the 1st overall pick in last year’s draft. Quarterback Cam Ward has not been set up to succeed in this offense, with the Titans ranking last in the NFL in points per game (12.8 PPG). The Jets and Saints are winless too, but at least they’ve been competitive in some of the games they’ve played in. Outside of their Week 1 loss to Denver, there isn’t a single game where the Titans have lost by less than 2 possessions. Getting shut out by Houston who was 0-3 going into Week 4 isn’t a good look either. There’s a huge culture problem in the Tennessee Titans organization right now and do not be surprised if you see some changes in the next upcoming weeks to fix their identity.

Danny Dimes to Danny Dollaz

Daniel Jones and the Colts have been rolling to start the season! Punter Rigoberto Sanchez didn’t touch the field until Week 3; a feat that hasn’t been done in the league since 1940. That’s how great this offense has been playing! Jones has thrown for 1042 yards, with 4 touchdowns and only  2 interceptions so far this season. If he’s able to keep these performance stats  up, then it may be time to put Jones in serious MVP conversations. Indianapolis also has the league leader in rushing yards: Jonathan Taylor who ran for 100+ in back to back weeks. The Colts 3-1 start is their best start in the first 4 weeks since the 2009 season, back when they made it to the Super Bowl. Definitely a team to watch!

Ravens Flock Apart

For a team that has been division winners of arguably the toughest division in football for back-to-back seasons, a 1-3 record with 5 more divisional matchups left isn’t the best start to the season. Losing 2 winnable games against Buffalo and Detroit has potentially changed the trajectory of the Baltimore Ravens season, with a turnaround possibly needing to happen this early. Derrick Henry is having a bad start to his season with 3 fumbles in 3 games, which is the amount he had the entirety of last year! Injuries to their defense have been killer, with Ar’Darious Washington already tearing his achilles in camp, Nnamdi Madabuike out for the rest of the season with a neck injury, and Kyle Van Noy being out with a strained hamstring. To make matters worse,  it’s looking like Roquan Smith, Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins will be missing some time due to various injuries. Baltimore has the worst scoring defense in the league and with this many key defensive starters missing, it will only get worse. Not to mention, 2 time MVP Lamar Jackson could miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury. Without a healthy squad going up against their bloodbath of a schedule, it’s looking less likely to see another postseason bid from the Ravens.
